"I am amazed how God brought us all together. Our group definitely had a theme of vulnerability and relinquishing control. I loved that we were determined to break the cycle and submit to God. "I matter because God says I do"
"When I came to PFP I was lost and broken – beaten up by my experiences in life. I had just experienced a traumatic break-up and I was at my wits end. I was jaded and I didn’t really know who I was or what my purpose was in life.
A few weeks prior to PFP, my therapist gave me a writing assignment: why do you matter? I sat on it for days, not knowing how to respond to it without explaining how much of a support I am to others.
Going through PFP showed me that I am somebody independent of what I can or can’t do for another person. I am a child of God and I matter because he chose me, setting me apart to complete a mission he placed on my life. I matter because God says I do.
Through PFP, I found my purpose and identity in Christ. Because of the process PFP brought me through, I am walking away with unshakeable faith in God’s hand over my life. Every day I wake up wanting to serve God better than the previous day. PFP guided and gave me the tools to follow God’s love and his word. All my life I searched for unconditional love in people. A futile pursuit. I spent my 31 years distracted by what other people needed and expected of me, neglecting myself along the way. Heck, I didn’t even know who I was to even know what I was neglecting.
When I came to PFP I found my way to God. I accepted Jesus Christ with my heart day after day at the altar (my bedroom) of my own undoing. He met me there, helping me to take off the mask I presented to the world and he replaced it with his love, validation and favor. He literally wrapped me in his arms and he’s been loving me in the way I always wanted ever since - nonstop love.
Because of PFP I stopped paying attention to other people and my self-centered life to look up at God – to notice him in the corner of my life. Waiting for my surrender. Because of PFP I experienced God’s love, grace and the Holy Spirit in and upon me. The day I experienced the Lord in this way marks my ebenezer. God has blessed PFP and every person who goes through it will be blessed too.
